Automotive Technician Career Pathway

Southworth Chevrolet GMC is proud to offer a structured career pathway for motivated students who want to become Automotive Technicians. Are you someone who enjoys hands‑on work, problem‑solving, and modern automotive technology? This program will help you build a long‑term, stable career in a high‑demand field.

We are looking for students who take pride in their work, care about the automotive trade, and want to grow into top‑tier technicians within a supportive, community‑focused dealership.

About the Pathway

We are offering to reimburse 100% of the tuition costs associated with an automotive technician program of your choice at a local technical college. After you complete your schooling and begin full‑time employment with Southworth, your tuition will be reimbursed gradually over a structured multi‑year timeline. This timeline gives students a clear path to follow: complete your program, begin working full‑time at Southworth, build experience year by year, and steadily earn back the full value of your tuition. By the end of the reimbursement period, students will have gained several years of professional experience, advanced their skills, and established themselves as highly capable technicians.

This structure ensures that students receive full tuition reimbursement while also building a stable, long‑term career with us. It reflects our commitment to supporting motivated individuals who want to grow into highly skilled automotive technicians and become part of the Southworth team.

What You'll Learn

  • Vehicle inspections, diagnostics, and repair fundamentals
  • Electrical systems, drivability, brakes, and engine performance

  • A modern, well‑equipped shop with updated tools and technology
  • Clear advancement opportunities from student → entry‑level tech → certified technician
  • A stable, family‑run dealership with over 70 years in the Chippewa Valley
  • A supportive team culture that invests in your growth and long‑term success

Who We're Looking For

We want students who:

  • Are genuinely interested in becoming automotive technicians
  • Take pride in doing quality work
  • Are reliable, motivated, and eager to learn
  • Want to grow into the "best of the best" in the industry
  • Value teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement

About the Role

Once you complete your automotive technician training and join Southworth as a full‑time technician, you will take on the responsibilities of a modern, dealership‑level automotive professional. Your work will include performing complete vehicle diagnostics, repairing mechanical and electrical systems, completing routine and advanced maintenance services, and documenting your work with accuracy and professionalism. You will manage your workflow, communicate clearly with service advisors, and uphold the high standards our customers expect.

As you gain experience, you will take on more complex repairs, pursue additional certifications, and continue developing into a highly skilled, well‑rounded technician.
